About Brighter Tails
Brighter Tails works to improve the lives of community cats through humane, practical solutions.
Our primary focus is Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), the most effective and compassionate way to manage outdoor cat populations. Through advocacy, education, and direct support, we partner with communities to promote better outcomes for community cats.

Early results from our TallyKat™ pilot in a small U.S. county. Local residents reported cat colonies, and TallyKat pinned their locations on a private colony map while estimating the potential population based on colony sizes and national data. Good stuff!!

TallyKat™ is Brighter Tails’ data-driven initiative designed to improve how communities track and manage outdoor cat colonies. The platform allows colony locations to be securely pinned on a private map while organizing information about colony size, sterilization status, and volunteer activity.
By bringing this information together in one place, TallyKat helps communities coordinate Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts, understand population trends, and make smarter, more humane decisions for community cats.

As the TallyKat™ network grows, it will help strengthen community-based animal welfare efforts and expand initiatives like the Brighter Tails Community Resource Program (CRP) that supports humane solutions for animals in need at a local level.

Humane Solutions
We support humane approaches to managing community cats, with a focus on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). By helping communities reduce breeding and improve colony care, we work toward long-term solutions that benefit both animals and neighborhoods.

Data Drive Approach
Brighter Tails is developing tools like TallyKat™, a community cat tracking system designed to organize colony information, monitor TNR progress, and help communities make informed decisions about outdoor cat management.

Community Partnerships
Lasting solutions require collaboration. Brighter Tails works with residents, volunteers, local advocates, and animal welfare organizations to promote responsible pet ownership and strengthen support systems for animals in need. Through these partnerships, we also develop and support initiatives like our Community Resource Programs, which provide targeted assistance to help communities respond to urgent animal welfare situations.
Support Us!
Brighter Tails relies on the support of compassionate individuals who believe in humane solutions for animals. Whether through donations, supply contributions, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness, every act of support helps create a brighter future for community cats and the communities that care for them.
